Maid Jailed without Fine to steal Employer’s Underwear

A servant, Vivian Simeon-Michael, was on Tuesday sentenced to ‎two-month detainment by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for taking. Ms. Simeon-Michael, 20, was indicted for taking her boss’ clothing and different things, esteemed at N295, 000.

The managing officer, A. T. Omoyele, gave the sentence after Ms. Simeon-Michael conceded to the one-count charge conveyed as a detriment to her by the police.

She, nonetheless, did not give the convict an alternative of fine focusing on that “she is a first wrongdoer who must see that wrongdoing does not pay”.

The police prosecutor, Cyricaus Osuji, had told the court that the servant submitted the offense

on September 9, at Isale Eko Way, Dolphin Estate Ikoyi, Lagos.

He said Ms. Simeon-Michael stole the individual impact of her boss, Bisi Awoniyi.

“She stole an arrangement of clothing, three arrangements of `buba’ and wrappers, seven bits of jeans, arm jewelery, 10 bits of tissue and seven bits of face towel.

“The others things are two sets of tights, night wears all esteemed at N295, 000,” Mr. Osuji, a corporal, said.

The prosecutor subsequently said that the offense negated Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
